Square Enix has revealed that a new installment of its RPG series, Dragon Quest Monsters, is currently being developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. This announcement comes as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Dragon Quest Monsters franchise. Known for iconic RPG franchises like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix aims to take players on yet another thrilling adventure in the world of Dragon Quest Monsters.

The Nintendo Switch has gained a reputation for hosting top-notch turn-based RPGs, and the Dragon Quest series has played a significant role in contributing to this reputation. Dragon Quest Monsters, a spin-off series within the Dragon Quest universe, offers a unique gameplay experience akin to that of the popular Pokemon games. In these titles, players engage in capturing, breeding, and battling with their collection of monsters.

While the Nintendo Switch library currently lacks any Dragon Quest Monsters games, with the exception of the Japan-exclusive release of Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland RETRO in 2019, Square Enix’s recent announcement is set to change that and bring new excitement to fans of the franchise.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Dragon Quest Monsters, Square Enix unveiled an official trailer that pays tribute to the series. The trailer features glimpses of various Dragon Quest Monsters titles, including footage from a Nintendo 3DS remake that was exclusive to Japan. Towards the end of the trailer, a teaser appears, hinting at an upcoming adventure and announcing the development of a new Dragon Quest Monsters game for the Nintendo Switch. While the trailer and the 25th-anniversary artwork have been released, no further details about the game have been disclosed at this time.

Among the numerous titles in development by Square Enix, including Final Fantasy 16, Foamstars, and the HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest 3, there is one game that stands out as highly anticipated by fans. The specific title that has garnered significant excitement among players is not mentioned in the provided information. However, it is evident that Square Enix aims to cater to a wide range of Dragon Quest fans, offering a diverse selection of games on the Nintendo Switch, ranging from classic titles and retro remakes to modern mainline entries and spin-offs.

The lack of information surrounding Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate has left fans eagerly speculating about when further details will be revealed. Since its initial announcement in 2021, there has been a notable silence from the developers regarding the highly anticipated title. This absence of updates has raised concerns among fans, who are eagerly awaiting more information about the next installment in the Dragon Quest series.
