Today, Ubisoft announced their upcoming Star Wars game, at Xbox Games Showcase. The development team has set the open-world game Star Wars Outlaws between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
In 2021, we became aware of the game’s announcement, and Ubisoft’s tweet mentioning the hiring of testers for the project as early as December 2023. Lucasfilm Games and Massive Entertainment, the developer team behind The Division franchise are collaborating on and developing the game.
Star Wars Outlaws: What to Expect?
Players will be filling the shoes of Kay Vess, an enigmatic scoundrel in the galactic underworld. In the game, Kay plans to “attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.” The cover art signifies that Kay won’t be alone in this journey.
She is accompanied by her trusty companion, Nix along with a commando Droid on the cover art. From the trailer, we are seeing a visual of vehicular gameplay which Kay herself will be commanding as well as being able to shoot while driving. There is no gameplay of the event, yet, but Ubisoft will be showing a full-blown walkthrough at the Ubisoft Forward tomorrow.
The game will release for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 in 2024. Although a specific release date or the timing within the year has not been confirmed. We will receive more details during Ubisoft Forward tomorrow.
There has been no announcement of the game coming on the Xbox Game Pass. Fans excited to play this game shouldn’t expect a Day One release on the above.
