Revealed via a blog post by the company, the new app features a streamlined design. It additionally features title auto downloads and background updates. The newest addition to the application includes a feature to link their PlayStation, Xbox and Steam accounts. Doing so will allow them to sync their friend list and add friends accordingly.
Usage-wise, EA touts that the app is their fastest and lightest PC client to date, which I can confirm, seeing that I was using it last night. Furthermore, the new EA App will replace the Origin client on PC.
Upon installation, the application removes the Origin client from a user’s PC and replaces it with this application. Everything transfers forward in the new app, from friend list to local and cloud saves, removing the hassle.
The EA App is downloadable from the official website and the blog post. macOS, however, will not receive this new application and will stick to the original Origin client.
The Origin client on Windows was notorious for its UI and performance issue, so hopefully, this new app tackles those problems and removes them.
