Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out for most platforms, gaining positive reception. The sequel to 2018’s Modern Warfare and reboot of 2008’s game of the same name, the title’s bringing back some of the fan-favourite characters.
While most of the title has experienced nothing but praise, some decisions by Activision have come under scrutiny. Many users have confirmed that the crossplay option between Xbox and PC players for multiplayer is permanent. Modern Warfare 2 offers full crossplay between PC, PlayStation and Xbox, allowing the respective platform player base to go head-to-head.

While many games allow a toggle to make the crossplay an option for the player to opt in or out of, in this case, Xbox and PC players don’t have many options. On the flip side, the PlayStation version of the gain does have a crossplay toggle, allowing users to match with similar hardware.
The toggle provides options for players on the respective platform. For console players, it allows them to match with only the same platform. This makes it easier for them to fare against PC players, who play on a mouse and keyboard. It also eliminates the chance of running across a cheater. PC players, on the other hand, tend to turn it off because console versions have aim assist and to avoid playing against it.
Activision is yet to address whether this was a thing they overlooked accidentally or whether it is permanent. Hopefully, players get a solution to the problem. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is out for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
