Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros is arguably one of the greatest video game series out there. The series not only popularized the platformer genre of games but also became the cornerstone of Nintendo’s success over the years. Not only that, Mario and his friends have easily turned into a well-known pop-culture phenomenon.
Naturally, Nintendo would try bringing the Italian plumber to the silver screens. While the live-action attempt from the 90s failed miserably, Nintendo would shake hands with American animation studio Illumination to create an animated Super Mario movie.
To date, apart from the cast reveal, Illumination hasn’t shown anything substantial about the upcoming movie. However, they plan to change it, as the producers plan on showing the first trailer.
Posted by the official New York Comic Con Twitter, Illumination will premiere the teaser trailer of the upcoming Super Mario movie on October 6th at 4 pm ET. The dates coincide with day one of New York Comic Con.

Fan reception about the movie has been polarising, because of the casting choices. Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt will act as the memorable Italian Plumber Mario. This news irked many, as people wanted someone with Italian heritage or Mario’s original voice actor.
However, it is worth noting the Sonic live-action movies have fared well both at the box office and in fan reception. Whether the Super Mario movie will have the same fate is yet to be seen.
