EA, the American publisher, is widely known for its work with Football games and various other titles. EA is also known for its questionable statements and decisions with its title.
Unfortunately, this time, EA is in the limelight for another unfortunate development. Through a post on their official website, EA announced the closure of online services for various legacy titles.

EA says that the reason for the shutdown is because of minimal activity. They believe that players still enjoy the titles which are live for some time and dwindle to less than 1% of all peak online players.
“As games are replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the games that have been live for some time dwindles to a level”, EA said. “typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles – where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping the online services for these games up and running.”
The following titles will stop their online services on respective dates:
- Army of Two: The 40th Day and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will cease on October 20.
- Mercenaries 2 (PS3 and Xbox 360) on November 9.
- Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 (PS3 and Xbox 360), Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, including Kane’s Wrath expansion (Xbox 360) on November 9.
- Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam On Fire Edition, Gatling Gears and Shank 2 on January 19, 2023.
So fans of any of the above titles who occasionally play online might be in for a disappointment.
