Battlestate Games have taken strong action against the hackers as they have banned a lot of cheaters messing up the game, and ruining the fun for the legit players.
Battlestate Games, the developers of Escape From Tarkov have banned 9,000 hackers/cheaters in one swoop. As the game is filled with cheaters, the developers acted upon the requests and complaints of the legit players. The game has faced major hacking in recent months.
The game’s designer and composer, who is also the Head of Studio and the Game Director at Battlestate Games, Nikita Buyanov tweeted, about the ban, that “we constantly commence ban waves of cheaters. But yesterday, there was a wave that I want to note — minus 9,000 cheaters.”

A user then asked the developers if they banned the IP address or not, restricting the hackers from cheating by just making another account. To which they replied “Yes and not only”, which indicates that developers have used multiple techniques and methods to keep the hackers away.

Battlestate Games seem so active and efficient to stop these hackers, which is unlike Halo Infinite which has a similar issue of hackers that leads to Halo’s constant decrease in numbers of active players.
Escape From Tarkov: How legit’s are responding to the ban?
Since the ban, the comment section of the developer, announcing the ban, has been flooded with positive as well as negative comments. Some people are thankful to the Battlestate Games for making the game a legit environment to play in, others are hurt and saying that the bans are meaningless and they have banned the innocent players.
“9,000 players anyone wouldn’t want to run into gone,” one Twitter user commented. Another thankful reply was from a legit player who had been matched to several hackers in almost every match last week and was relieved after the ban.
A Twitter account commented that “Can’t wait for all the ‘why did I get banned’ posts on Reddit” and it started many players started complaining in the conversation thread on Twitter about the inaccuracy of the bans and asking for reasons for their IDs termination.
An angry user commented “Apparently you ban people who have done nothing at all after they spend money on your game. Thanks for allowing me to waste my money.” And the reason can be understood as the people have invested their money and hours into the game, these sudden bans will affect the game’s reputation as well.
The game has been under development for years now, and only the closed beta version of the game got released in July 2017, still, the game has sold roughly 1.5 million copies which is a great accomplishment. But these strict bans might affect the EST’s reputation in a bad way.
