Fatal Frame series by Koei Tecmo is considered one of the scariest horror games ever. Also known as Project Zero, the title has seen a little bit of stagnation over the years. Fortunately, with the remaster and release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, the series saw some much-needed resurgence. It seems it wasn’t a one-off thing, as Koei Tecmo revealed the revival of one of the classic titles in the series.

The developers announced Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse would receive a much-needed revival and remaster. The title originally came out for Nintendo Wii in 2008. The title was a Japan-exclusive, and possibly the most requested remaster by the community.
Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will feature a photo mode seen in most modern Koei Tecmo releases. The remaster will also have new and altered costumes and enhanced graphics, including improved shadow and light rendering. Additionally, the developers have done touch-ups on all the in-game movies and character models.
Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse takes place a decade after five girls mysteriously disappeared at a festival on Rōgetsu Isle in Japan. While the girls got rescued, their memories were lost, with them only remembering a single melody and a seemingly possessed masked woman dancing in the moonlight.
Ten years later, with no memory of the events surrounding their disappearance, two of the five girls have died – discovered with covered faces and found in a tragic, crying pose. The remaining three girls now head back to the island to solve the mystery of their friend’s death while also unlocking their lost memories.
Fatal Frame Mas of the Lunar Eclipse will launch in Early 2023. The title will see a digital release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Koei Tecmo shared some screenshots from the upcoming game.
They also released a new trailer for the title, which is right below.
