Summer 2023 is right around the corner, and the advent of Final Fantasy 16 is closer than expected. The next entry in the long-running JRPG series by Square Enix sees players play through one of the darkest entries in the series. Furthermore, the title will feature gameplay previously seen in Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

With the release date reveal imminent, it seems PlayStation 5 owners will enjoy the fantasy story by Square Enix first over others. A new trailer by PlayStation showcases their PlayStation 5 consoles and what to expect from them. Simple marketing stuff.

What is interesting about this video, is that during the Final Fantasy 16 portion of the trailer, it shows a very prominent footnote. It reads that the upcoming title will be a platform exclusive for six months since its release. After this period, the game will release on other platforms.
It does not confirm if Final Fantasy 16 will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive completely, or will be a case where PlayStation 5 and PC owners will get the title on launch, and only Xbox will get the game six months later. Neither Square Enix nor PlayStation has officially announced the confirmation of the exclusivity yet.
Final Fantasy 16 will launch for PlayStation 5 in the Summer of 2023. Square Enix is yet to announce a PC or Xbox release for the title. Earlier, Naoki Yoshida, producer of the game talked about its setting and lack of diversity in the upcoming title.
