Earlier this year, Embracer announced the confirmation of purchasing the entirety of Square Enix’s Europe studios. In that, Crystal Dynamics was one of the studios included. While the developers are best known for their Tomb Raider titles, they have another title dormant. Fortunately, with Embracer’s habit of using a developer’s back catalogue, it seems the epic tale might make its comeback.

Recently, the company started sharing a survey in the community. In it, the company asked its player base what they’d like to see next from the famed franchise. The survey asked various questions related to the title. Some of the more important ones were:
- What do players feel about games with vampires in them, since the series revolves around vampires? They further asked if players have played any games with vampires and what features make an enjoyable vampire game for the players.
- What the reaction of a player be if a new Legacy of Kain title gets announced? On the same page, they ask users if they would prefer a remake, remaster, reboot or sequel. If so, which title would they love to see getting the treatment?
- They even ask if players would love a story recap in a future Legacy of Kain title to bring them up to speed with the series.
- Finally, they ask what genre the players would love to see the next Legacy of Kain title be.
The questions in the form are pretty straightforward. This doesn’t confirm a new Legacy of Kain project. However, it does show that Crystal Dynamics or Embracer is interested in revisiting all the backlog titles each of these companies collectively hold.
Only time will tell whether we’ll see the revival of the famed franchise once again in the current year. Currently, every Legacy of Kain title is purchasable on Steam.
