Overwatch 2 is almost near the horizon. The sequel to Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch plans on providing a new, familiar experience to newcomers and seasoned fans alike. While the game is preparing for its inevitable launch next month, Blizzard outlined a few things for newcomers.
In a recent blog post, Blizzard outlined a few changes they are bringing in with Overwatch 2. Called the ‘First Time User Experience’ (FTUE), a few game modes and features will be locked until players meet certain requirements.

Blizzard designed FTUE to ease players into the game gradually. They took consistent feedback from new Overwatch players feeling overwhelmed by the title. Under FTUE, access to competitive mode will require new players to win 50 quick play matches. Other features, like in-game chat, will also be locked per requirements.
The critical change to the title is the hero unlock process. Per the FTUE, players have to play 100 matches to unlock the original heroes from Overwatch. Blizzard says that FTUE restrictions are lifted while in a group, so players can team up to play almost any of the game modes.
Hopefully, these new changes do not backfire on the company. After all, certain of these changes sound questionable. To read most of these changes in detail, head on over to the official website.
Overwatch 2 will enter its free-to-play early access on October 4th, 2022.
