Many consider Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic one of the most significant Star Wars media. Previously the cannon prequel to the Star Wars universe, fans and gamers love the Bioware RPG. Many credits the brilliant write-up and characters players encounter in the game.
Naturally, given the age of the title, playing it on modern systems is a no-go unless one owns a PC, Nintendo Switch, or Mobile Phone. On top of that, the PC version isn’t playable outright and forces players to mod it. Naturally, excitement was high when Aspyr, the current right holders, announced a remake for the title.

Aspyr is responsible for bringing the title and its sequel to modern systems, like PC and Switch. Furthermore, they are also responsible for porting the titles to Mac.
Unfortunately, the remake of the classic title’s in a tight spot. In a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the videogame has halted its production. The report points out that the game’s art director and design director this month and through meetings told everyone that the project is on pause.
Furthermore, as per the report, on June 30, Aspyr finalized a vertical slice demo to show Lucasfilm Ltd. and Sony. According to a person familiar with the project, the developers were excited about it. Unfortunately, the verticle slice wasn’t well received, and the project turned unsustainable, as a disproportionate amount of time and money went into the demo.
Aspyr was planning on launching the title by the end of 2022. Currently, the developers say that a more realistic target now would be 2025.
It is unfortunate with what happened to an otherwise anticipated title by many. One can only wait and see what the future holds for the remake, as some believe that Saber Interactive, who was doing outsourcing work for the project, may take over the duties of creating the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake.
