Streets of Rage is widely regarded as one of the classic video games of all time. The beat-em-up title is widely regarded by many, especially for its evergreen soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro. The series also saw a much-needed resurgence with an official sequel released for PC and Consoles called Streets of Rage 4, developed by DotEmu.
With Yuzo Koshiro’s music chops also returning with the sequel, it seems the famed Streets of Rage composer plans to return with another title. Surprisingly, this project seemingly will launch for SEGA’s Mega Drive console.

In a series of tweets from his account, Koshiro-san announced the project he and his studio, Ancient, are working on. According to the Streets of Rage composer, the upcoming retro title will look like an old shoot ’em up. Inspired by the old franchises of the 80s, Koshiro-san is making the soundtrack and also designing the title.
It looks like an old shoot 'em up but is a new game we're developing, harkening back to famous franchises in the 80s. We will release it for MD/Genesis. I'm making the soundtrack and have been back also as a game designer since Beyond Oasis. pic.twitter.com/nFPEDoYj1B
