The Witcher series by Netflix saw a monumental resurgence of the Polish fantasy series. The web series, based on the novels by Andrej Sapkowski and video games by CD Projekt RED, follows the Witcher Geralt of Rivia. A mutated monster hunter, each episode follows his escapades through the world of the fictional series.

With two seasons currently completed and a third season getting shot, The Witcher series gained widespread positive reception over the years. Many credited Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the series protagonist as one of the reasons. The show also helped repopularize The Witcher 3 game by CD Projekt RED.
Unfortunately, good things need to come to an end. So is the case for The Witcher series, as Netflix confirmed the departure of Cavill from the project.

Through a blog post, the company confirmed Henry Cavill leaving the series after the conclusion of season 3. However, with the fourth season getting greenlit, Netflix announced Liam Hemsworth taking over Cavill’s duties.
Henry Cavill issued a statement regarding his departure. He said: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”
The news came as a shock to fans and passersby alike. Henry Cavill is known for loving the game series based on The Witcher by CD Projekt RED. Furthermore, Cavill is also known for joining the project because of his attachment to the series as a whole.
Hopefully, the portrayal of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia will be jaw-dropping. In related Witcher news, CD Projekt RED announced a remake for the first game in Unreal Engine 5.
