It seems like Starfield will arrive within the first half of 2023. Starfield’s release date was recently leaked to be May 2 after Microsoft’s confirmation that it would occur after Redfall. So, we should expect Starfield to drop sometime Between 3 and June 30. Some Starfield players are worried since the title’s Steam launch date was just pushed back.
If you visit the Starfield website on Steam now, you’ll note that the release date has been moved forward from 2023 to “coming soon.” Moving the release date from “sometime this year” to “soon” may not seem like an upgrade, but as PCGamesN points out, it’s certainly not that horrible.
Publishers may choose from a wide range of distribution window choices on Steam, including precise dates (for when they know precisely when they’d like their title to arrive) and more general frames (such as January 2023, Q3 2023, or the whole year). Nevertheless, Steam’s launch window archive will always use the final day of the range specified by the user, thus if the user specifies a launch date of January 2023, the launch date will be January 31, 2023, and if they provide simply 2023, the rollout would be December 31, 20
The shift in release date from 2023 to “coming soon” suggests that Starfield will be released before the conclusion of the year. But if Starfield will be released in Q2 of 2023, then why didn’t Bethesda simply change the launch schedule to reflect that?
It’s possible that we will not need to wait too long to figure it out. Yesterday, Xbox announced that, in addition to a joint display with Bethesda on January 25, it would also host a presentation just for Starfield in the near future. Redfall will be released first, without a doubt, and the most recent information is that its release date is May 2. Even Windows, as well as Microsoft aficionado Brad Sams appeared to corroborate this by responding to the disclosure with a string of emoji that may be roughly translated as May 2.
