Domina Delisted From Steam After Developer's Mad Ramblings

Ah yes, Steam. The one-stop gaming platform for digital PC game purchases. While the platform has gotten flak for numerous instances of developers being unbearable idiots and their moderation, the company’s slowly changing things. Take a look at this instance.

Quick rundown as to what we are dealing with: Domina, an indie game where you manage gladiators and gladiatorial fights. The developer Nicholas John Leonhard Groissen recently got tons of flak for his objectionable choice of words.

Ranging from anti-mask statements to transphobic and misogynistic rants, the patch notes for the title were a headache. For a detailed rundown, watch James Stephanie Sterling’s video down below.

Numerous days later, Steam finally decided to step in and take action. As of today, if one tries to purchase Domina off of Steam, they can’t. A quick look at the page reads:

At the request of the publisher, Domina is no longer available for sale on Steam.

Before the removal, the reviews went from Mostly Positive to Mostly Negative. This happened in response to Groissen’s posts and comments. Each of these comments was done through the patch notes of the game. The recent one was mocking trans and non-binary people, making fun of deadnames.

Unfortunately, these patch notes are still up on Steam for anyone to read. Though it is only a matter of time before they get taken down.

This isn’t Groissen’s first rodeo with such incidents. His Twitter account got taken down recently after he attempted to harass James Stephanie Sterling and their followers after publishing the above video. He also got banned from Domina’s Steam forum after trying to lash out at people leaving negative comments about the game.
