There is not much news about Final Fantasy 16 over the years. The next numbered entry to Square Enix’s long-running JRPG series, the developers have been quiet about the development for too long.
The only news we got about the game was the trailer from a year ago, with the Producer Naoki Yoshida assuring the playerbase that the game is in active development.
After months, we finally have some news from Yoshida-san, and it is a positive one for the fans of the series.
Final Fantasy 16 Reaching The Finishing Lines Soon
Square Enix partnered up with the fashion brand Uniqlo to release sixteen t-shirts following the Final Fantasy theme to celebrate the series turning 35 years, with each game getting one t-shirt, including the upcoming JRPG.
As such, the in-store magazine of Uniqlo interviewed Yoshida-san, producer of the game and producer of Final Fantasy 14, for the promotion in the magazine (thanks to u/MKillerby from Reddit for the translation).

Speaking about the game, Yoshida-san says that the game is in steady development and is in the final stages.
Right now the development of FF16 is in its final stage. As a single player game, we are aiming to integrate story and gameplay even further.
Naoki Yoshida also says that they are trying to integrate the story and gameplay further, turning the story into one with a lot of depth.
Different to a game where many people play online at the same time, the extent to which the game has an individual focus changes how immersed you are in the story. I think it’s become a story with quite a lot of depth.
Additionally, he also assures the readers that people who have grown up loving the series will remember their passion for it through the game, and they are developing it with those intentions in mind.
To people who have grown up, entered working society and think “reality isn’t as easy-going as a video game”, and at some point ended up separating from Final Fantasy, we want to want them to remember their passion from back then. We’re making the game with that intention.
Hopefully, we will get more news soon, especially with June creeping upon us.
