Many consider GoldenEye 007 to be one of the greatest movie-tie-in video games for valid reasons. The Rare developed First-Person-Shooter for Nintendo 64, based on the classic James Bond movie of the same name, the title revolutionalized numerous features that are staples for modern gaming.
The title gets credit for introducing split-screen and couch multi-player, apart from its gameplay. Unfortunately, GoldenEye never saw a release on modern platforms in any shape or form. The culprit: licensing. The only thing remotely similar to the game was a remake by Activision, sporting a likeness to Daniel Craig and void of the charms that made the title a classic.
Many years later, the unthinkable happened. During the Nintendo Direct, last night, Rare officially unveiled the return of the classic shooter. Later, Xbox, the parent company for Rare officially announced the title for Xbox Game Pass.

As per the announcement, the title received a visual uplift, running in native 16:9 resolution with up to 4K Ultra HD. Additionally, a constant refresh rate and challenge hunters can try finishing a list of achievements in this release.
The only difference between the two versions is a strange one. While the Nintendo Switch version will receive full multiplayer support, the Xbox version will only contain the couch multiplayer. That is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch release of GoldenEye 007.
Interestingly, this marks the first time GoldenEye 007 has seen a re-release on any platform in 25 years. Hence, celebrations are due. Another thing to note is that this release is not the rumoured remaster that Xbox has been working on for a while. Rich Cousins, the live ops manager for Rare confirmed it on his Twitter.
If only, my ugly mug is only in the unreleased officially version that was unofficially released last year, not this one.

Earlier, the XBLA remaster for the title got leaked on the internet, sparking debate among the fanbase. Numerous sources have also confirmed a remaster for the title is in the works, though it is supposedly going through troubling developments.
Maybe Xbox is testing the waters with this release for the title. GoldenEye 007 will launch in 2023 for Nintendo Switch via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion. The title will also launch on Xbox Series X|S via the Xbox Game Pass service.
