Gotham Knights by Warner Bros Montrèal is a few days away. The action-adventure title, based on the DC Comics Batman universe, will see members of the Batfamily trying to keep Gotham City safe after the death of Bruce Wayne.

While the game features various content like untethered co-op and an open world among others, many were curious if the title will receive a performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. After all, multi-generation titles by other companies always give the option.

Unfortunately, in the case of Gotham Knights, the game will cap to 30FPS on the next-gen.

As per a statement posted on the official discord of Gotham Knights, Fleur Marty, the executive producer, shed some light on the reason.

“I know many of you are wondering about the availability of a performance mode for Gotham Knights on consoles,” Marty said.

“Due to the types of features we have in our game, like providing a fully untethered co-op experience in our highly detailed open-world, it’s not as straightforward as lowering the resolution and getting a higher FPS.”

Marty says that because of the above reason, Gotham Knights is ditching the performance/quality toggle and will run at 30FPS. This news upset many players, as throughout the marketing Warner Bros never intimated the same. Some also called out the company for withholding the information until the release date was near.

Earlier, the title planned a 2021 release, getting pushed to this month. The title will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
