With the release of a little over an hour and a half of gameplay video, we now have our clearest glimpse yet at the game’s main menu, prologue, and much more.
Vandal Bandito of the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit was the first to draw attention to the videos posted by Waleczny Bigos, a Polish YouTuber. All of these clips are available in 4K, showcase half an hour of gameplay, and were filmed in English along with Polish subtitles. Waleczny Bigos has a collection on YouTube with videos documenting their playing of The Callisto Protocol; five of these clips are now unavailable to the public.
The Callisto Protocol seems very polished from the trailers, with a smooth framerate and highly detailed environments. Some of the graphics seem to be stuck, although this footage was probably recorded before the launch patch was installed.
The Callisto Protocol is due out on December 2, therefore it’s plausible that this leak came from a YouTuber who had access to an advanced copy and decided to post it before the embargo had passed. Another possibility is that the game was sent out early due to a shipping error, however, this seems very improbable more than a week before the release date. However, it’s likely that the films may be removed in the near future, so enjoy them while you can. Or, if you’d rather start from scratch, you may just avoid them.
Furthermore, publisher Striking Distance has addressed the current backlash against the fatality effects being added to Callisto Protocol through the Season Pass. The President of Striking Distance has assured players that these visuals aren’t being kept back from the gameplay, despite widespread speculation to the contrary.
