Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out for most platforms, gaining positive reception. The sequel to 2018’s Modern Warfare and reboot of 2008’s game of the same name, the title’s bringing back some of the fan-favourite characters.
However, the game had some minor hiccups during its launch. With Activision falling under scrutiny after making crossplay permanent for PC and Xbox, and after disclosing PlayStation-exclusive rewards, it seems that is the least of the developer’s worries.

As reported first by Eurogamer, it seems Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer has a bug in it that gives an unfair advantage. Using the in-game ping system to mark an enemy during their death screen makes it last the whole game. This turns the system into an unintentional wallhack, giving the said player an edge. A user posted the problem seen on the official Reddit.
Huge Bug: You can Ping an enemy during the death screen and the Ping lasts for the whole game, essentially giving you wallhacks on that one player for the remainder of the game. from ModernWarfareII
After this bug went public, Activision quietly turned off the ping system in Modern Warfare 2. The move is possibly taken to fix the bug so that every player can have a fair match.
Activision is yet to comment on the bug and whether they are addressing the problem. Judging by the fact that it is disabled completely from usage, it seems to be the case.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is out for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
