2019’s Build Engine FPS Ion Fury furiously swept over the boomershooter community. The well-received and well-loved shooter gained a fanbase for its nostalgic gameplay and previously undoable features on Build Engine. With its expansion, Aftershock, releasing someday, Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms shocked the community with the reveal of Phantom Fury.

Phantom Fury is an upcoming road movie-inspired 3D FPS featuring Shelly Harrison, AKA Bombshell from Ion Fury. Revealed in Realms Deep 2022 showcase, the upcoming shooter takes place after the fight against Jadus Heskel in Ion Fury. Armed with a bionic arm and awake from a coma, she sets on to finish a new mission of tracking down the Demon Core before villains get their hands on it.
Phantom Fury will feature an incredible amount of interactivity in its world. Players will be able to pilot helicopters, solve environmental puzzles, hack into usable computers, play arcade machines alongside air hockey and much more. Each mission comes with various interactive options and creative ways to overcome obstacles.
The title will also feature over twenty weapons, including her iconic Loverboy revolver, Bowling Bombs, armour-piercing shotguns, electric foam shooting devices and controllable drones. The armaments can further be updated by mods and players will get the chance to unlock abilities for Shelly’s new bionic arm.
Frederik Schreiber, CEO at Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms, spoke about the reveal. He said:
“We’ve been quietly working on Phantom Fury in hopes of really surprising everyone at Realms Deep. This was a game we wanted to make for almost a decade, and It feels awesome to finally show it to everyone. We know you’ll love going on this explosive road trip next year.”
