While Sony’s making strides with the release of PlayStation 5, they are also focusing on their upcoming VR headset. Called PS VR2, the PlayStation 5-compatible headset plans on adding various nifty features for the user base.
Earlier, the company went into detail about the features of the headset. However, they have been tight-lipped about the pricing and the release date. After months of silence, Sony officially unveiled both pieces of information to the community.

Through a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony shared the details. The PlayStation VR2 will launch next year on February 22, 2023, and will cost $549.99. The set will contain the VR2 headset, the VR2 Sense controllers and stereo headphones. The pricing of PlayStation VR2 makes the headsets the costliest ones on the market. Additionally, it is more expensive than a PlayStation 5, which costs $499.99.
There is a separate controller charging station that will be available on launch. The Sense controller charging station will cost $49.99. Furthermore, Sony will also launch a bundle which includes a PS Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain. The bundle will cost a user $599.99.
The pre-orders for the headset will start on November 15. Players in the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will initially get to pre-order from the PlayStation Direct store. On top of that, the VP of Sony claims that the February date is the “initial launch phase.”
In July, Sony unveiled the various features of PlayStation VR2, ranging from front cameras to the option to set play areas and much more.
