Apogee’s Rise of the Triad is considered to be one of the cult classics from the olden days. The modified Wolf3D Engine game rightfully gets its place among classics such as Duke Nukem, Blood, Shadow Warrior etc. Over the years, the series never saw a proper remaster, and the reboot was mediocre.
While a remaster was teased last year, it finally became a reality. Announced during Realms Deep 2022, Rise of The Triad will receive a much-needed remaster job. The new edition, called Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is worked on by Nightdive Studios and New Blood Interactive.

Nightdive Studios is known for its work in modernizing classic video games for modern systems. New Blood Interactive, on the other hand, is known for its brilliant hard-hitting retro-inspired videogames and CEO Dave Oshry’s shenanigans on Twitter.
The new Rise of The Triad edition will come packed with modern features thanks to Nghtdive’s KEX engine. Players can go through the whole campaign with one of the five playable characters and arsenals like rocket launchers, bats etc.
The new version will also consist of multiple multiplayer modes like capture the flag. Of course, the title will also feature 4k60FPS, increased FOV, an updated HUD with UI, modern resolutions, etc.
It doesn’t end there. The new edition will also feature a new episode created by New Blood, Nightdive Studios and veterans from Apogee software, the original developers of the title. The title will also feature the 2013 reboot soundtrack alongside the original one, recorded and performed by Andrew Hulshult.
Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition plans on launching in Early 2023 for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox. There will also be a limited physical release via Limited Run Games. Check out the announcement trailer for Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition down below.
