Fan reception about the movie has been polarising, because of the casting choices. Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt will act as the memorable Italian Plumber Mario. This news irked many, as people wanted someone with Italian heritage or Mario’s original voice actor.
However, it is worth noting the Sonic live-action movies have fared well both at the box office and in fan reception. Whether the Super Mario movie will have the same fate is yet to be seen.
