Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros is arguably one of the biggest video game franchises. The series not only popularized the platformer genre of games but also became the cornerstone of Nintendo’s success over the years. Not only that, Mario and his friends have easily turned into a well-known pop-culture phenomenon.
Naturally, Nintendo would try bringing the Italian plumber to the silver screens. While the live-action attempt from the 90s failed miserably, Nintendo would shake hands with American animation studio Illumination to create an animated Super Mario movie.
