What was ocean gate supposed to do?
Ocean Gate Submersible or Titan was supposed to travel deep down. The location was the spot of the Titanic Shipwreck and explore the waters around it. It carried at least 5 people including the CEO. The submersible was operated with a Video game controller. It was similar to some US Navy submarine designs that use Xbox 360 controllers.
It included five passengers. British billionaire Hamish Harding, experienced diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Ocean Gate’s CEO Stockton Rush, and Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman Dawood.
Public view regarding the tragedy
Despite repeated calls for privacy from Ocean Gate and the victim’s families, the disaster has gone on to generate multiple memes on social media. The Everett locals where the business is based also expressed their sad emotions. They expressed their grievances on how the internet and the public have reacted to this tragedy.
Cafe owner Corie Reed who runs a cafe near the business has said that she and others feel ‘very disheartened after seeing the memes.
Reed replied to the source: “It’s been the only topic of discussion for the last few days and a lot of regulars are very disheartened by all the memes and jokes and things that are going around because these are people we know and talk to every day.”
She also added: “There are a lot of jokes about them being millionaires, but they’re also just people with families.”
John Mauger from the First Coast Guard District said that the Titan had been missing for several days. He said that it can happen that the submersible has suffered a catastrophic implosion. However on the other hand the experts believe that if the passengers somehow took precautions and saved some breathable air. Ther is a chance that they might save themselves some time. Furthermore, it is unknown if they are still alive after the sub vanished.
Reports related to the Ocean Gate
On June 18(Sunday) the Titan lost its connection with its mothership. It happened after 1 hour and 45 minutes after going down 12,500 feet under the sea. The experts who were investigating including the Coast Guard of the US believed that the vessel has an oxygen level that would last up to 96 hours.
The Coast Guard Officials alerted the passenger’s family members by announcing the tragic updates during a news conference on Thursday. The rescue teams believe that the air supply ran out around 1 pm on June 22.
