Suikoden Trademark Renewed, Ahead of Konami’s TGS Showcase

With TGS 2022 a few weeks away, many Japanese developers and publishers are actively gearing up to showcase their titles. Among them, Konami has some plans.

Earlier last week, the Japanese publisher, known for Silent Hill, Castlevania and more, announced its Tokyo Game Show 2022 lineup. While most of the games on the lineup lists are already well-known, the company confirmed a reveal for a returning title. This title, which would take 45 minutes to showcase per the schedule, will be a new title in a fan-favourite franchise.

It seems that the title might be a new entry in the Suikoden JRPG series (via VGC). The company applied for the filing back in June 2022 and started actively circulating it this week after the TGS lineup announcement.

Previously, a source revealed that the upcoming title might be a smaller project and not the big names. Judging by the trademark filing, it kind of matches with it. The Suikoden series has always been a smaller, niche title for JRPG fans. The first game in the series launched in 1995 on PlayStation, with the final entry released by Konami in 2006.

Of course, it is to say that trademark filings are not an indicator of a title’s existence, and companies do them quite frequently. However, the timing for the same is pretty coincidental.

As of now, we do know that Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid remasters and two Silent Hill games are in the works, as part of Konami’s effort to revive their goodwill and the said franchises. The only thing we can do is to wait till Tokyo Game Show to see what this mystery title reveal’s going to be.
