Both Amazon Games, as well as Smilegate, are bringing the famous South Korean MMORPG Lost Ark to the west, the developers are scrambling to meet the high demand for the title. According to the developers of Lost Ark, some servers already have a cap on the number of new characters that may be added.

What Servers are getting Limited

Starting at 9 A.M. on February 8, players in North America and Europe could begin creating avatars on the Lost Ark‘s 25 first servers, which were made available to anyone who pre-registered. It has been verified by Smilegate that the character restrictions are affecting the following servers: Azena, Asta, Avesta, Regulus, Kadan, Mari, Una, Valtan, Trixion, Thirain, and Zinnervale. Most of the impacted servers are from Europe Central, with the fewest being in North America, however, the team has verified that additional servers will be added soon.

More people will join the game when it is officially released in West tomorrow, even if some Lost Ark gamers have already been playing for two days. It’s possible that some of the Twitch viewers may be interested in checking out Lost Ark after popular broadcasters like Sodapoppin, Summit1G, and Asmongold received early access to the game. Asmongold has chosen to stay on Galatur, a more reliable server that may yet see a rise in gamers when the game launches officially.

We know that queue times are one of the main points of frustrations for everyone. This is just the first step of our goal to address the issue 👊

Smilegate Creating Additional Servers For Lost Ark

Aside from limiting the number of new characters that may be added to Lost Ark servers, Smilegate is also creating two new servers for the Western fandom. Aside from limiting the number of new characters that may be added to Lost Ark servers, Smilegate is also creating two new servers for the Western fandom.

Beatrice will be the new server for EU Central, while Elzowin will be the new server for NA East. MMO gamers looking for parties in raids, dungeons, and other content generally choose high population servers, yet these servers are sometimes prone to long log-in waits.

Loss Ark has already achieved 500,000 active users on Steam, highlighting one of Smilegate’s key motives for restricting new characters on large population servers. After only four hours of being available as a paid game, it had already surpassed that milestone. MMORPGs like Final Fantasy 14, and New World have had to apply similar limits in recent months, but Lost Ark isn’t the first one to carry such initiative. To provide the best possible server capacity, the creator of New World has started combining servers that are far less popular.
