The developers have shown a more in-depth peek at the fresh map coming to Splatoon 3 alongside the Fresh Season update. Some players are worried about the visual quality of the newest Splatoon 3 map, but others are enthusiastic about trying it out.
Since its premiere, Splatoon 3 has received seasonal updates that have included new and returning stages. This year’s Fresh Season for Splatoon 3 begins on March 1 and will reintroduce the Manta Maria from the previous game. Um’ami Ruins, on the other hand, is a whole new addition to the game.
The creators of Splatoon offered their followers a sneak peek at Um’ami Ruins via the game’s official Twitter handle. The layout of the map is meant to evoke an archaeological excavation, replete with shovels, cranes, and an unusual façade with two stylized squids on each side of the main doorway.
According to the account, it seems like that it might have been the scene of a “old” territorial conflict. This map, like all others, may be used in both the regular Turf War as well as the more chaotic Anarchy Battles game modes.
Every time a new map is added to the game, it helps to keep things interesting since the old ones become old and repetitive. Yet, there have already been objections and worries raised by fans about the layout.
One of the largest is that it seems impossible to successfully flank the opposition, which is great news for those who like stealthy weaponry like inkbrushes. Gamers have complained that most Splatoon 3 maps don’t provide enough flanking opportunities; this map will just add to their dissatisfaction.
Vertical space is scarce at Um’ami Ruins. Several of the Splatoon 3 landscapes have been quite flat, with just a few little platforms here and there. Several gamers have voiced displeasure about this, suggesting that the map doesn’t live up to expectations. Yet, Moray Towers, which is generally believed to be among the worst levels in Splatoon 2, is one of the greatest instances of a map featuring height in that game.
Not many players will love Um’ami Ruins, but those that do will have a blast. It’s also possible that Um’ami Ruins, or maybe even other levels, will have flank paths added in the coming months to express issues and special privileges, as numerous locations in Splatoon 2 were changed during the duration of the game. Whether or not a more vertical map is added to the rotation this summer will tell fans whether the devs are paying attention to their map complaints.
