Pokemon Scarlet & Violet might’ve received public scrutiny over its various aspects. However, that hasn’t stopped the title from becoming one of the biggest launches for Japanese developer and console maker Nintendo. Naturally, this meant that the yearly offering of monster catching topped the sales in its originating country, Japan.
According to a report by Famitsu, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet decimated the rival titles launching in the country. The game sold around 2,537,299 physical copies between its release and the chart cut-off point of November 20. This put the title ahead of the previous chart-topper Splatoon 3, which sold 36, 958 copies.

Additionally, as per a Nintendo announcement in Japan, the game sold a total of 4.05 million copies in the country, taking digital sales into account. Furthermore, the title helped in increasing Nintendo Switch hardware sales. The title moved a total of 170, 693 consoles, compared to 97,542 from the last week.
This is in line with Nintendo announcing on Wednesday that the title was the biggest launch for the company, selling 10 million units in the first 72 hours worldwide. The game is exclusively available to purchase and play on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED.
