Netflix and its interest in video games have been well-documented. The streaming giant has shown interest in dipping its toes into interactive entertainment numerous times. Earlier, they started providing games in their highest subscription tier through the mobile app.
With their announcement of Night School Studios’ Oxenfree becoming available to play through the Netflix app, it seems the company is pretty serious about gaming. Earlier, the streaming giant announced that they are establishing an internal development studio in Helsinki, Finland. Now, it seems they are hiring people for a big-budget project.

First spotted by Mobilegamer.biz, Netflix is looking for a game director at the La-based development studio. The listing reads: “We’re looking for a creative and highly-skilled Game Director to help us forge the game direction and creative vision on a brand-new AAA PC game. As Game Director, you will be the creative leader of one of Netflix’s first generation of internally developed original games.”
Unfortunately, no further details were given in the listing. However, the listing does mention that Netflix prefers people with experience in FPS/TPS games.
Mike Verdu, Netflix vice-president stated last month that the streaming giant would open a new LA studio. Chako Sonny, the executive producer of Overwatch was responsible for running the studio.
The streaming giant wants to create a successful video game. Whether this is based on one of their successful shows is something yet to be seen.
