Riot Games delivers a promising backstory to their fans each time they release an agent. This agent, being another one of them does not fail its promise. As Deadlock hasn’t received an official release yet, we have limited information available to us. However, we have gathered and pieced together existing information to provide some insights.
Who is Deadlock and where does she hail from?
Riot Games released a vibrant and beautiful cinematic in collaboration with Lightfarm Studios about Deadlock on 25 June. The video gives us a continuation of teasers released earlier where Cypher and Sova are looking at a beacon signal in a snow-covered facility. Known as Agent 23, she is seen going into a facility known as Svalbard. Svalbard is a Norwegian word that refers to a remote archipelago situated between Norway and the Arctic Pole. On going deeper, a bear that is affected by Radianite hunts down her team one by one. In the climax, the bear bites her, granting her radianite powers, but she loses a hand in the process. Right before, she collapses on the floor, she sends out a beacon for help to Kingdom.

The last teaser leads up to the end scene of the cinematic where Deadlock wakes up in Kingdom’s lab and Killjoy has just fitted a mechanical arm in place of her arm. Speculation suggests she remains affected by the bear encounter, evident when she immediately targets Wingman with her ultimate ability.
