Performance plays a huge role when it comes to shooter games like Valorant. A player with a more advantageous setup is more likely to gain a slight upper hand and the same applies to Riot’s shooter.
Raw Input Buffer option was first added back in 3.07 patch of Valorant and many wondered what it does while hopping in into the settings option. This article will explain what Raw Input Buffer is and whether players should enable it.
About Raw Input Buffer in Valorant
To explain in short, games take input information from windows peripheral settings rather than directly from the mouse. By enabling Raw Input Buffer in Valorant, it simply creates a bridge between the mouse and the game by excluding filtered input data from Windows. By becoming this players get more grip on their peripherals and in turn get better reaction time.
Now, this feature is most advantageous with mice capable of handling an 8000 Hz polling rate. That doesn’t mean 1000 Hz polling rate mice will not benefit from this, however, the advantage is less. If players want even a fraction of better performance from their peripheral, Raw Input Buffer can be enabled by them.
On the other side, Raw Input Buffer can come as a curse to weaker systems. A short visual lag can affect mouse movement a lot. If players have weaker setups, this option can be turned off by them. There are many professional Valorant players who do not use Raw Input Buffer, so this isn’t that mandatory.

Nonetheless, Riot Games has provided all kinds of tweaking options to bring the best for players. Also, the game is highly competitive in nature, so these things are a bit mandatory to have. Since, a slight advantage decides when a player wins or not.
