UPDATE: Ubisoft In a statement given to VGC has officially said that Steam’s information is incorrect. They’ve confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will remain playable to the owners after 1st September.
“As stated in our support article, only DLCs and online features will be affected by the upcoming decommissioning. Current owners of those games will still be able to access, play or redownload them.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation was a spin-off that took place alongside the events of Assassin’s Creed 3. The game followed the adventures of Aveline de Grandpre in her fight against the Templars. The game wasn’t very well received by fans upon the initial release, but even now it can be very enjoyable. It first got released for the PS Vita and was also later remastered for PC and other Consoles.
However, Ubisoft has now delisted the standalone version of Liberation from Steam. Along with this, the Steam page for the game says that it would be inaccessible to the owners of the game as well. This means if you’ve bought the standalone version of Liberation HD, you won’t be able to access it.

Previously, Ubisoft also announced that it would also be shutting down the online servers for a few of their older games like Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist and more. Along with that, they also said that a lot of DLCs released for those games would not be accessible anymore. The sudden removal of the game is very surprising as Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD was never mentioned in the list.
While there have been multiple cases where the publishers have delisted games from storefronts. The game being completely unplayable is very rare. Ubisoft says that the remaster for Liberation that is included with the Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered version will not be affected. So anyone willing to play the game would now need to buy Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered.
Ubisoft is making a precedent on Steam as Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022. Even if you already bought it, a bar new low for consumers. pic.twitter.com/hRmmb2yM3w
