PewDiePie is a Swedish YouTuber whose real name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. He has become one of the most well-known internet celebrities and content producers because of his YouTube fame and widespread media coverage.

Additionally, he has been identified in the media as the face of YouTube, particularly when it comes to the gaming specialty. He started his YouTube channel in 2006 when he was 17 years old.

So is PewDiePie really turning off?

The Swedish YouTuber initially decided that he wants to quit YouTube and also officially announced it in his video that was published on January 15. The video was captioned “It’s been real, but I’m out.”. In that video, he appeared to be showing signs of burnout by telling his audience that things were “piling up” and that he wanted to “cool down for a bit.” However, later he changed his mind and came up with a different approach by adjusting his appearance on YouTube instead of leaving.

In his recent video titled “Why I didn’t quit”, he opened up to his fans about continuing to make content on his channel. In that video, PewDiePie reveals that he “retired” in a way, switching from his regular daily upload schedule to a less hectic one. The YouTuber wanted to get back to making content and get away from the pressures that had accumulated over time. PewDiePie also expressed his appreciation for the help and support he received from his community.

What made him think of quitting YouTube?

PewDiePie received a lot of criticism for his videos last year, including claims of racism, prejudice, and discrimination because of his right-wing ideas. These criticisms took a different height when a New York Times article titled “YouTube’s Monster: PewDiePie and his Populist Revolt” was published in 2018. He also has been criticized for not carrying out the responsibilities of his platform. Furthermore, He was considered problematic because he said the N-word and other controversial statements in the past. Moreover, his fan base also faced criticism by being called “Toxic”. This happened because the fan base supported his videos with racial slurs, rape jokes, antisemitism, and homophobia for nearly a decade. Due to all these allegations Disney also cut off ties with him.

So for the fans who were worried and sad about PewDiePie quitting the platform, it is a good piece of news for them that the Swedish Youtuber will temporarily quit his channel so that he can continue making entertaining videos in the far future.
