Silent Hill as a franchise promised a comeback in 2022 with multiple projects in work. One of these works includes a new title named The Short Message. This game will feature a protagonist named Anita around whom the story will revolve.
As per reports the game is being rated in Taiwan and later also found in Korea. The game is likely to release on PS5 for a playable demo, about which not much is known.
Silent Hill: The Short Message leaked early
Konami originally mentioned new projects titled: Silent Hill 2, Ascension, Townfall, and codename f. However, they didn’t mention anything about Silent Hill: The Short Message. There are chances that the naming has seen some changes during the publication process.
The official synopsis has also been released for the unreleased game says the following:
Anita comes to an abandoned apartment building to meet her friend Maya, and somehow wakes up to find herself trapped in it. She must escape from her own fears and the monsters lurking in the hallway, find out the hidden truth behind the trauma, and try to escape before her psychological trauma consumes her will to live.
As can be guessed the new title will be more like an indoor horror game. There are chances the game will also find some resemblance with Hideo Kojima’s PT which is still a favorite to many. Fans are excited to try out the upcoming psychological horror game, but no trailer has been shown yet.
Konami might not have said anything about the title in past during the showcase to give players a surprise. Since the franchise is back after a long time, surprises like this can reap great rewards. So, only time can tell when the actual reveal is made regarding the upcoming title.
The new game might be developed on Unreal Engine 5 like Silent Hill 2 remake. This means that the game might look visually compelling like it was shown in the remake teaser. However, these are only speculations and nothing can be said for sure. In terms of release date, the game might be releasing in 2023 as it is already being rated.
