Summer Game Fest took off last night. If you have missed it, you can watch the entire video on Youtube to keep up with all the announcements. Summer Game Fest was one of the most anticipated gaming shows of this year because E3 was not held this year. Geoff Keighley was the glamorous host at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. A lot of companies participated, some of them being Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Insomniac Games, Netherrealm Studios, etc. Microsoft did not participate in the event, as they will be having their own Xbox Game showcase, on June 11, 2023, at 10:30 PM IST/10:00 AM PT/7:00 PM CET.

Key takeaways from the Summer Game Fest

The event wasn’t the best as it continued to expand on its upcoming titles with gameplay and footage with a much lesser focus on what’s to come in the near future of video games.

5) Mortal Kombat 1 showed off the series’ legendary and brutal gameplay

Mortal Kombat started off the event with its diverse cast of characters and a more fluid fighting style. The video featured returning characters such as Kung Lao, Sub Zero, Scorpion, Kenshi, the fiery Liu Kang, and many more. The gameplay highlighted the new assist mechanic where the players can call in help from other character players in the midst of a battle and classic as well as new bloody and bone-wrecking fatalities. The game is scheduled to be released on September 19, 2023.

4) Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 gets a Co-op mode at Summer Game Fest

Space Marine 2 will feature a three-player co-op gameplay

Warhammer fans can rejoice as the sequel to the 40k hack-and-slash game will be featuring a cooperative mode. Players can play the campaign with trios as the trailer showed the return of Captain Titus slashing and shooting his way through a bunch of Tyranid swarms. The game is like a breath of fresh air for 40k fans after Boltgun which featured a retro-doom-based shooter gameplay. Space Marine 2 is releasing during Winter 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox X|S

3) Lies of P, Remnant from the Ashes 2, and Marvel’s Spiderman 2 get their release dates.

Insomniac Games confirmed the cover for the box copies of the game featuring two spider-man at Summer Game Fest

The PS-exclusive Spider-Man 2 will release on October 20, 2023. Last week, Sony released the gameplay featuring two spider man’s, switchable characters like GTA V, as well as the introduction of the villain, Kraven. Insomniac Games has also confirmed that Venom will not be Eddie Brock, giving an original feel than portrayed in the comics and-or games.

2) Alan Wake II gets thrilling gameplay footage and a release date

Sam Lake, the face behind the legendary Max Payne, went on stage to promote the new Alan Wake game. The trailer features a deep dive into the aspect of horror that takes inspiration from the recent horror game, Resident Evil 4. The game will be featuring two different protagonists, Alan Wake himself and Saga Anderson, an exceptional FBI agent. Alan Wake II releases on October 17, 2023, on Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox X|S.

1) Final Fantasy VII rebirth gets a new gameplay trailer and introduction to its wide range of characters

Cloud, Tifa and Aerith
Final Fantasy will be featuring the same cast with remade graphics

We got our first proper overlook of the new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the Remake Series. The gameplay showed us a disaster. Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, and Aegith, the cast of the game are featured. More gameplay is shown that features a vast open world. The game is a PlayStation exclusive and will have two separate disks.

Xbox Games Showcase, PC Gaming Show, and Ubisoft Forward will be following close after the Summer Games Fest.
