The undisclosed release date for Ubisoft’s X-Defiant has sparked anticipation, with the ongoing public beta attracting a surge of eager players.

X-Defiant’s standout feature is its factions inspired by popular Ubisoft titles like Far Cry, Splinter Cell, and The Division. These factions bring a unique element to the game by offering players specialized abilities that alter their gameplay experience. Players have diverse faction options, allowing them to choose a playstyle that suits their preferences, enriching the gameplay experience.

Which factions do we get to choose from in X-Defiant?

Currently, XDefiant showcases a selection of five distinct factions, with the developers aiming to introduce more factions within the first year of the game’s release. This commitment to expanding the faction roster ensures ongoing diversity and variety for players. Factions offer diverse traits, granting players varied gameplay styles and strategic options in XDefiant. They are as follows:

Cleaners

Pyrologists from the Division – Armed with their personal incinerator drone or a firebomb, these pyros deal heavy damage with their attacks and can easily flush out enemies. Their ultimate is a flamethrower for burning foes, and their passive inflicts additional damage with incendiary ammunition over time.

DedSec

Hackers (Watch Dogs) – DedSec comes to X-Defiant with their abilities to hack enemy gadgets or deploy spider bots that immobilize a single opponent. They possess an ultimate ability called Lockout, which enables them to prevent enemies from utilizing their abilities. Their passive ability, Fabricator, enables them to craft a secondary gadget after its initial use, granting them a combat advantage.

Echelon

Spies (Splinter Cell) -Sam Fisher’s agency grants either invisibility or a recon suit that pings nearby opponents when activated. Their ultimate provide Sonar Goggles for wall vision and Sam Fisher’s five-seven pistol deals 100 damage Opponents are unable to see Echelon on the mini-map due to their passive ability.

Libertad

Rebels (Far Cry) – The rebels of Far Cry 6 drop in as mainly a support faction that heals nearby players and themselves with their two main abilities. Their ultimate also provides nearby players with a 200 health boost whilst giving them super-regen. Their passive provides a faster regeneration rate to themselves and nearby players.

Phantoms

Future Soldiers (Ghost Recon) – The futuristic phantoms from Ghost Recon are played mainly in a frontal tank role. They can choose between a Mag Barrier, providing cover while allowing shooting, or a blitz shield for protection and electrocuting foes. Their passive grants 120 extra health, and their ultimate deploys a dome shield and an electric gun.
