Valorant is a competitive game and sound plays a crucial role in it. Every sound cue is like information being given out to others, which helps them take decisions. So it is important to know about sound settings present in the shooter game.
In competitive games, players are bound to make mistakes and sound can be one of them that players can take advantage of. Now, many players are confused about what the HRTF does in Valorant, and this article is just the right place. Starting from knowing what it is to how it affects the game, will be answered.
Everything to know about HRTF in Valorant?
HRTF stands for Head Related Transfer Function, which is merely a way how sound behaves. This behavior is mostly associated with the directional nature of sound in the game. Instead of giving players a more immersive experience, HRTF only makes the audio cues better.
Having better audio cues means players can react to situations faster. So, sound effects like reloading, footsteps, dropping weapons and so, will be heard more precisely. Additionally the sound’s direction will be easily specified in stereo headphones, which again makes it advantageous in Valorant.
Since HRTF mostly helps in making the sounds better for competitive usage, it is better for players to enable it. But again, having this option off doesn’t mean players will be left deaf. However, these won’t be getting precise sound cues whatsoever.

To enable HRTF in Valorant, all players have to do is first go to Audio settings. There they will find a check box saying Enable HRTF. On checking the box, the feature will be enabled for the player. At first it might feel odd to play the game with HRTF enable, but players will get used to it over time.
