In the 5v5 tactical first-person shooter Valorant, players face off against each other in a future society plagued by dimensional travel. Players may pick from a cast of 21 agents and diverse weaponry that includes anything from submachine guns to assault rifles. In addition, agents are categorized according to the responsibilities they play. Sage, a Sentinel, will be the subject of this essay. They concentrate on defensive play by securing areas and preventing flanks. Our main subject will be Sage on Split, a Japanese map featuring two bomb sites, an elevated middle ground, a stunning cityscape, and a bustling local culture that locals are attempting to reclaim.

When and Where should you play Sage on Split?

Before we delve into the intricacies of Sage’s gameplay, let’s take a moment to discuss her kit. Sage possesses basic abilities such as Slow Orb, which creates a slowing field that hampers enemy movement, and Barrier Orb, a wall that blocks off areas. Her signature ability is Healing Orb, enabling her to restore health to herself or her teammates. Lastly, her ultimate ability is Resurrection, allowing her to revive a fallen ally.

Defense:

Sage excels as a valuable pick for the Split defense side of the battlefield. Given the two distinct locations, I will provide advice separately for each section:

  • With your wall, you can effectively block off mid and prevent attackers from going heaven or vents early in the round. They’ll be able to break it, however, but you can also get an early kill if you aim right
  • You can also use your walls to block off-site entries or get yourself or your teammates to higher ground to pick off enemies with ease.
  • You can use your healing ability to heal your teammates when they are wounded. Sage heals 100 HP when healing an ally over a duration of 5 seconds and 30 HP when used on self over a duration of 10 seconds. It’s recommended to use this ability on allies because it won’t have much of an effect on you
  • Use slow orbs, to slow off entries when enemies try to enter a site. You get two of them. Using both of them in A and B main will have a larger radius with a wider slow effect.
  • Use your resurrection during retakes to gain an advantage over your opponents and take the site back and defuse with ease.

Attack:

Sage excels in assault scenarios by effectively using her abilities to wall off areas, allowing the attacking team to control the rotation of the defenders. She can also heal injured teammates and revive fallen allies, giving the team a significant advantage. In a similar vein, I shall provide advice in this regard:

  • Use your wall to obstruct the defenders’ lines of sight or to open up fresh lanes of movement for your squad. This is very useful for moving into bomb locations or establishing map dominance in Split.
  • Your squad can benefit from your healing skills when you engage in firefights or make aggressive pushes. Sustain offensive momentum by actively healing damaged teammates, ensuring their presence and effectiveness in the battle.
  • Use slow orbs to impede defenders and prevent them from rotating. Strategically position walls in chokepoints to hinder defenders’ mobility and buy valuable time for your team.
  • When a vital teammate falls during attacking, utilize your ultimate. Bringing them back to life can provide your side with a big edge by maintaining a numerical advantage.
  • Use the wall to defend the spike by blocking defenders’ entries, forcing them to destroy it or find alternate routes.
