As of 2022, there are various PlayStation 3 emulators in development, and RPCS3 is winning the race at the moment. In an official post, the developers announced that their emulator can boot every game available for the console. However, that doesn’t mean they are all playable.
Emulators are notoriously known for allowing PCs to run console or other platform games on their systems. Thanks to various developers who dedicate their time and effort to reverse-engineer the original operating to run on PC.
RPCS3 is now the first emulator to be able to boot any PlayStation 3 games
RPCS3 is an open-source game emulator and the development has been challenging for many. Thus, when the developers found out that there are 0 game show errors while booting, an official post came as no surprise.
At the moment there are approximately 68% of games on the PlayStation 3 emulator are fully playable with no bugs. Additionally, there are approximately 29% of games that run on the emulator, however, cannot be executed till the end.
We are delighted to announce that as of today, the RPCS3 Loadable compatibility category has reached 0 GAMES!
This means there are no PS3 games left that boot to a black screen on the emulator – every PS3 game at the very least boots and shows image output.

Developers are still working hard to make it possible for the emulator to ignore these glitches and give fans a great experience. Although if fans are willing to overlook these issues while using the emulator, it sure can be used if they want to.
Now, there are almost 3000 playable PS3 games that run smoothly on the RPCS3 emulator. This number is not small at all and players have the freedom to access the entire library. So, it should be looked at as an achievement in the PC gaming community as open-source software is doing an excellent job.
More updates will be shared by the RPCS3 development team as time pass and more games are made playable. For now, fans have to be patient and enjoy what is available to them at this instance.
